یہ وہ ناول ہے جس کا آئیڈیا اچانک سے وارد ہوا۔ مجھے ہمیشہ سے عنکبوت یعنی مکڑی پسند رہی ہے جب میں نے سوچا تو پہلے یہی نام ذہن میں آیا۔ ”عنکبوت“ اور جب میں نے گوگل کیا تو اس نام پر پہلے کسی نے لکھا ہوا ہے۔ میں کافی کنفیوژن کا شکار رہی سوچتی رہی کہ اور کیا نام رکھوں پھر ولیم کا ایک ڈائیلاگ یاد آیا تو سوچا ولیم ولی کر لیتی ہوں۔ پہلی وجہ جو میں اس نام سے مطمئن نہیں ہو پارہی وہ اس لیے کہ یہ کردار کا نام ہے جیسے ماثیل، ادھم جبیل کی پہچان تھا حالانکہ کہانی سب کے لیے تھی ہم سب ماثیل ہیں پر ابھی تک کمینٹس اور میسجز آتے ہیں کہ اگر ہیرو ماثیل نہیں تھا تو ناول کا نام ماثیل کیوں رکھا۔ جبکہ ماثیل کسی ہیرو ہیروئن کی کہانی نہیں ہے۔
دراصل قارئین ایسے ناولوں میں صرف ایک کردار پر فوکس کرتے ہیں جس کے نام پر ناول ہو اور ولیم ولی میں بھی یہی چل رہا ہے۔
دوسری وجہ جو میں نام تبدیل کرنا چاہ رہی ہوں وہ یہ ہے کہ
یہ نام ہلکا پھلکا ہے جبکہ میری کہانی کافی ڈارک ہے جب شروع کیا تھا سوچا تھا چھوٹا ناول ہوگا پر اب جب باب چہارم لکھ رہی ہوں جس کا نام ”عنکبوت“ ہے تو سمجھ آرہا ہے میں نے پھر سے بڑا ٹاپک اٹھا لیا ہے اور ہاں کچھ ریڈرز پوچھ رہے ہیں کہ یہ سوری العنکبوت سے ریلیٹڈ تو نہیں ہے؟ ہاں یہ اس سے ریلیٹ کرتا ہے اس لیے پہلے بھی میرے ذہن میں یہی نام آیا تھا۔
تو اب؟ اب یہ ہے کہ میں نے کل رات تین ہزار الفاظ کا سین لکھا ہے اور جب وہ اینڈ ہوا تو عنکبوت وہاں تھا۔ ساتویں قسط شروع ہوئی تو عنکبوت وہیں تھا اور جو اہم وجہ ہے کہ آخر عنکبوت ہی کیوں؟ تو وہ میں نہیں بتا سکتی۔ کیونکہ نئے کرادر آرہے ہیں اور وہ عنکبوت سے بہت جڑے ہیں۔ پھر نانی اماں نے جب بتایا کہ میں بچپن میں گڑیوں کھلونوں سے کھیلنے کی بجائے کن چیزوں میں دلچسپی لیتی تھی تو کشمکش اور بڑھ گئی۔ اب یہ ہے کہ ناول کا پورا خاکہ عنکبوت سے جڑا ہے پھر ولیم ولی نام سوٹ نہیں کر رہا۔ میں نے کوشش کی اپنے ذہن کو مطمئن کرنے کی پر یہ نہیں مان رہا۔ میں بار بار کہہ رہی ہوں یہ نام پہلے کوئی اٹھا چکا ہے۔ نہیں جانتی انہوں نے کیا لکھا ہے انکا تھیم کیا ہے۔ پر یہ
کہہ رہا ہے ”نور یہ تمہارا عنکبوت ہے یہ الگ ہوگا“ اور پھر میرے ذہن میں تو ناول کا کور بھی ڈیزائن ہوچکا ہے۔ آہ یہ میرا دماغ تیزی سے بھاگتا ہے اور میری ذرا نہیں سنتا۔
تو آپ بتائیں جس کہانی میں چاروں جانب عنکبوت ہو وہاں ہم کوئی اور نام کیسے رکھ سکتے ہیں؟ اگر نام ولیم ولی ہی رہا تو میں اس طریقے سے نہیں لکھ پاؤں گی جیسے لکھنا چاہتی ہوں۔
ابھی تو شروعات ہے بالکل ابھی ہم بدل بھی سکتے ہیں۔ تو پلیز تھوڑا سا سوچیں اور سوچ سمجھ کر جواب دیں۔
”بہت غرور ہے نا تمہیں خود پر؟ اپنی ذات پر، اپنی ذہانت پر؟“ اس کے لہجے میں زہر بھرا تھا۔ فجر ساکت کھڑی سن رہی تھی، اس کی آنکھوں میں ناقابلِ یقین وحشت تھی۔ ولی کے جبڑے بھنچے ہوئے تھے۔

”وہ میرے کردار کی دھجیاں اڑانا چاہتا ہے۔“ اس کے لہجے میں بے یقینی اور ٹوٹا ہوا مان تھا۔ جیسے خود کو بتا رہی ہو۔
”تمہارا کردار؟“ ولی کی آواز گہری اور سنجیدہ تھی۔
اس نے فجر کے ہاتھ اپنے ہاتھوں میں لیے۔ نظریں اسکے چہرے پر جما دیں۔
”میں ہوں تمہارا کردار! سمجھ آ رہا ہے نا؟ تمہارا کردار میں ہوں! میرے ہوتے ہوئے اسے کوئی مسخ نہیں کر سکتا“

The second reason I want to change the name is that
This name is light while my story is quite dark when I started I thought it would be a short novel but now when I am writing the fourth chapter which is called “Ankaboot” I understand that I have taken up a big topic again and yes some readers are asking whether this is related to Surah Al-Ankaboot? Yes it is related to it that is why this name came to my mind before.
So now? Now it is that I wrote a scene of three thousand words last night and when it ended, the spider was there. When the seventh episode started, the spider was there and the main reason why the spider? I cannot tell that. Because new characters are coming and they are very connected to the spider. Then when Nani Amma told me what things I was interested in as a child instead of playing with dolls and toys, the conflict increased even more. Now the whole plot of the novel is connected to the spider, then the name William Wali doesn't suit me. I tried to convince myself but it doesn't. I keep saying that someone has already taken this name. I don't know what they have written, what their theme is. But it is saying "Noor, this is your spider, this will be different" and then the cover of the novel has also been designed in my mind. Oh, my mind runs fast and doesn't listen to me at all.
So tell me, how can we give a story where there are spiders all around? If the name remains William Wali, I won't be able to write the way I want to write.
