"تم تو چاہتے ہی ہو کے میں مر جاؤں جان چھوٹ جائے تمہاری" اچانک آتیہ کی دھاڑ کر باسط حیرانی سے اسے دیکھنے لگا جسے اچانک ناجانے کونسا دورا پڑ گیا تھا۔
"کیا کہہ رہی ہیں آپ؟ میں ایسا کیوں چاہوں گا" باسط بیچارہ تو اس کی آنکھوں میں ابھرتے آنسو دیکھ کر ہی سٹپٹا گیا۔
"صبح سے صرف ناشتہ کیا ہے میں نے، بھوک سے پیٹ میں چوہے دوڑ رہے ہیں، سب کو کھانا کھلایا اور مجھے پوچھا تک نہیں" دکھ تو اسے کچھ اور تھا مگر نکال کھانے کے بہانے رہی تھی، فوراً سے پہلے آنسو رخساروں پر بہہ نکلے رونے کا تو اسے آج کل موقع چاہیے ہوتا تھا۔
"آئی ایم سو سوری آتیہ، پلیز روئیں مت، بتائیں کیا کھائیں گی میں ابھی لاتا ہوں بس پلیز رونا بند کر دیں، اپنے نکاح والے دن کون روتا ہے بھلا؟" باسط اس کے رونے پر بھوکھلاتا جو منہ میں آیا بولتا گیا۔
"تو نکاح والے دن اپنی منکوحہ کو بھوکا کون رکھتا ہے جب وہ ہو بھی آپ کے رحم و کرم پر" آتیہ پھاڑ کھانے کے انداز میں بولی تو باسط سٹپٹا گیا۔
"میں ابھی کھانا لاتا ہوں ٹھیک ہے، آپ رونا بند کریں شاباش" باسط اس کے آنسو صاف کرتا جلدی سے کھانا لینے چل دیا جبکہ وہ اب بھی سوں سوں کر رہی تھی۔
"یہ لیں کھانا کھائیں" باسط نے پلیٹ لاکر اس کے سامنے رکھی اور اس کے برابر بیٹھ گیا۔
"مجھے نہیں چاہیے تمہارا احسان، مجھے نہیں کھانا" وہ خود بھی نہیں جانتی تھی وہ ایسا کیوں کر رہی ہے؟ کیا چاہتی ہے؟ بس اسے اس وقت باسط کا وقت اور توجہ چاہیے تھی۔
"ضد مت کریں آتیہ، یہ لیں تھوڑا سا کھا لیں شاباش بعد میں لڑ لیں گے" باسط اسے ضد کرتا دیکھ خود بریانی کا چمچ بھر کر اس کی طرف بڑھا گیا۔
آتیہ نے چمچ پکڑنے کی کوشش نہیں کی تھی، منہ بسور کر منہ کھولتے اس کے ہاتھ سے کھانے لگی، باسط اس کے منہ بسورنے پر مسکراہٹ دباتا اسے کھلانے لگا، چھوٹی چھوٹی باتوں کے دوران انہوں نے ایک ہی پلیٹ اور چمچ سے کھانا کھایا جس کا احساس اس وقت دونوں کو نہیں تھا۔

"Don't be stubborn, Atiya, take this and eat a little, well done, we'll fight later." Seeing her stubbornness, Basit himself filled a spoonful of biryani and moved towards her.
Atiya didn't try to hold the spoon, she opened her mouth and started eating from her hand, Basit forced a smile on her mouth and started feeding her, during small talk, they ate from the same plate and spoon, which neither of them realized at that time.
